Not one, but two newsworthy happenings at Facebook this week! Firstly Facebook has purchased Friendfeed for a reported $50 Million. This news has been greeted with mixed opinions and plenty of speculation as to what’s likely to happen next. Here are a couple of articles that debate the possibilities:

I stumbled across the second bit of news when logging onto my Facebook account yesterday morning to see a message inviting me to test out their new ‘Lite’ service. Naturally I clicked the link for more details several times, but frustratingly nothing happened. Later on in the morning, I came across these articles which explain what might be going on. It seems we’ll have to wait for more developments to find out what this lite service is about.
