Having been working in the internet industry for almost 10 years, I’ve seen a lot of changes but over the last 2-3 years, the changes have been much faster with new technology which is now available to the masses. For example, a few years ago, a website built on a content management system (where you can edit much of the content yourself) cost thousands of pounds. Now you can set one up at very low cost. New web based applications are springing up every day and keeping up with the latest trends can be quite difficult.
We’d love to know what challenges you’re facing with your website or online marketing, perhaps some of the following:
- Getting to grips with the new technology and web based applications e.g blogging platforms such as WordPress or Typepad
- Keeping up with the latest trends – e.g Twitter
- Managing your time spent online, e.g do you find yourself getting too distracted once you get onto Twitter or Facebook and 10 minutes becomes an hour? or
- Is there so much to do that you don’t know where to start?
- Are you spending your time in the places that are going to bring in the most benefit to your business?
- Do you find the whole industry so full of jargon that it puts you off from trying anything out? Are you a technophobe?
- Understanding what actions you need to take now, and which ones could wait.
- Are you staying motivated to do everything you need to get done?
With everything that can now be done online and with all the other challenges of running a business, knowing where to start with the online stuff can be confusing. Even Louise and I face these challenges every day with our own marketing.
Please feel free to comment back on this as we’d be really interested in knowing what stuff is causing confusion or just not getting done because you don’t know what to do, where to start or find the whole thing far too daunting!
