You may think this is a bit early as we’re only just in September, but now you’ve had your holidays you need to be thinking about Christmas, particularly if you sell online. The next few months are probably going to be some of the busiest months of the year for you and could be particularly important bearing in mind the current financial climate.
I’m going to split this into 2 parts, the next post next week, so here’s your first instalment:
1. Get your Pay per Click Campaigns Up & Running
I’ll soon be setting up Christmas campaigns for some of my clients and you need to make sure that yours is up and running as soon as possible. Don’t just rely on last minute sales and wait until November or December. You could start now on a lower budget and increase your budget as we get closer to Christmas.
2. Optimise your Website
OK, search engine optimisation is a long term strategy, but if your site’s been around for a while and you think it could be performing better in the search engines, then now’s a good time to review your SEO, see where improvements could be made and make sure profitable products are being found. You may even find your rankings increase fairly quickly which will really help with those sales just before Christmas.
3. Schedule your Emails
If you’re already marketing to your email list, then review your emails, check out open rates and which links are clicked on. Now may be a good time to make some adjustments to improve open and click through rates. Create offers and specific landing pages from your email. If you’re not sending emails on a regular basis then do so, start now. Think ahead and plan which products you want to promote, plan some tips and content of interest so the email isn’t purely promotional. Send your email at least once a month and build your list in house – that way you know the recipients are interested in your products.
